I just noticed the dealer stamp on the cover. It's from my hometown! Bel-Kirk Motors. So those are USA prices

In 1971 I got my first car ... in a round hotwheels rally case ...

So in 1971 a new 1200 cost $1850 in USA. The median monthly income was $750. So even $15 for an accessory was something

I know which Accessory i would have purchase.
The Stripe. I would skip three dinners out to buy it

I had a sedan with over riders on the bumper but i would like the lower door sticker looks good.

Then i read this description in the Datsun 510 Accessories brochure (same part number as the 1200):

The red coupe in the previous photos appears to have a rough eBay special sticker -- looks similar but is not really. The letters printed on the vinyl and don't let the paint show through

Look like you are right. The fake sticker has white stripes above the black center area

The genuine datsun stripe is all one color

pager aren't bumper overriders rare in oz?

The rubber ones in the photo were standard issue in america. The tubular steel ones are very rare. only seen em once
