Secret VIN # I just became aware that there are secret VIN numbers stamped in hidden places on cars. In some states in the US the VIN that you usually see must match the hidden one, if not the car can be taken by the state and destroyed,

Where is the one for the Datsun 1200?

Exactly right, it's no secret, it's plainly visible after you open the hood/bonnet

Since all USA 1200s were built in Japan, they have the same numbers

Prior to the 1980 VIN ISO Standard, Datsun used a vehicle identification number they called "Car Number"
