An iron Ford 302 is about 50lbs lighter than an iron Chev 302 ... so generally speaking the Ford would be better in a light car. The Ford is narrower too, but has the distributor in the back. So the Chev might be easier to stuff back up under the cowl.

oops again, as a Ford fan and 1200 fan, and I just worked on my 5.0 liter Ford recently. One more reason to choose the Ford over the GM. And easier to change the spark plug wires. Although in other ways the Chevy engine is superior.

Yeah, especially when it comes to buying parts! I don't know about other places, but, in the US, the small block chevy is the cheapest engine in the world to get parts for. Still, the fords are not too bad in that aspect either.
