PS. Before Stirling too gets on your rag, MGs aren't only four bangers, eg. MGC

I'm having fun here....some of you need to be jolted into the real world. There are few if any 1200's left here. I've been to Seattle numerous times in the last 10 years and have never seen one...unless they only come out at night. Read the original ads for the 1200 that were posted on this website. They were marketed as economy cars..easy on gas and your wallet. Don't rag on me for telling the truth about the 1200 sedan.....I drove one for a LONG TIME.

I dont think so... for 1 major point being that the US Spec cars are left hand drive and Australian Spec cars are right hand drive.

Also i suggest there are few 1200 around where you live, (maybe dimlight bought them all and stashed them at his workshop) as a large percentage of members on this site are from the US and own 1200's as daily driver road cars and race cars.

why thankyou...I had some of my finer moments in that Datsun...and yes..I got that car because it was easy on gas and the damn Arabs had just cut off our gas supply. Now that isn't all too unbelievable in todays world is it? Those guys raised the price of regular gas to a freaking .35 cents a gallon....It's almost too funny, now that we're paying $1.66 a gallon and talking about going back to economy cars again.....and you're also right about TR6's....they blow the doors and windows off MGS.....which are only 4 bangers. oh yeah...speaking of banging.....that brings back those fond memories of reclining bucket seats and mammary glands.

I remember the blue plastic mats with that goofy burlap stuff underneath. It got all moldy and mildewy from water seeping in through rubber plugs in the floorboards. I ended up replacing the gewy mess with newspapers which had to be changed about 3x a year. Seattle had a very wet climate. Thanks for another view of those seats...your dashboard is different than the one i had on my 72. I also remember the huge ashtray.....oh yeah..i filled that baby up a few times...and the small vent windows were so cool...easy for flipping cigarette ashes out the window. Seeing as I'm 6ft. tall, i do remember the tough time i had playing with my girlfriend in the backseat...boy did she have the best set of knockers i ever laid hands on.....I hope my wife doesn't find this website!

Hell whats in the water in Oz at the moment, firstly L18 B110 getting grumpy and throwing his toys out of the cot over manifolds and now Mikali insulting a newbie for telling us his experiences?? Micheal you should try some of the happy pills I've prescribed to L18 B110. In your posts you have made a lot of assumptions which are incorrect. TR6s are not like MGs excepting they have 2 doors and no roof. The Triumph is a tough fuel injected 6 cylinder sports car built along tradtional ideals. They are not ugly I would happily park one in the garage beside my 2 1200s and 4 MGs. Don't bag Steve for driving something other than a Datsun. Most of the club members have interests in other cars as well. 1200s were introduced to the US during a fuel crisis and were sold as economy cars. Downunder drivers were used to small capacity cars from England and saw the performance potential for them very quickly. Steve can't have disliked his Datto too much if he drove it for so long, how long have you been driving anything? I think you owe Steve an apology your little hissyfits are embarrassing...........

Thanks, one detail that probably makes some diference, here in portugal it we have some very twisty roads, it was all about track events and rallyes, the drag cene here is zero. When I thing US, in think never ending straits and poor handling V8s, but very quick ones.

I still have the original seats. They need some stiching, but they are 30 years old.

Well, if you can't believe that datto's can be more fun than you're TR6, then that is another area you are misinformed about. Ok, say maybe MY 1200 is not as wild as it could be. But try 600hp and 10 second fun in my 1600. Now there's a rush you won't get in any production car ever built.

Thats what I'm into cars for and its what I personally come to this club to discuss. I can understand that you have perhaps grown out of this need, but thats ok with me and thats why I don't go to any triumph clubs and bag their members

hats off to you danielblues....any effort to save the 1200 from the crusher is ok with me. But really, the seats sucked, and they were so buzzy and fussy on the road. Good on gas mileage though.
