like I said, neither confirm nor deny...

yeah I was thinking of just going to silicon... but it seems a little dodgey. Wondering if there was a better way....

I think you have got two options first fill it with sealer and let the rust keep growing or rip out the dash and see how far along it is and remove the guard to see if it rusty thru the rail and cut out an inspection hole next to the bonnet hinge that's what we did with mine as I only ever want to fix it once
it's a big job

Hey guys, If you go back to the old Yahoo site , in the photo section there is a series of pics showing exactly how this leak occurs. The factory used a flexiable sealer that over time becomes hard and drops out. It isn't that hard to repair once the guards are off. Removing a dash in a 1200 isn't that brain taxing either, it just takes time. Better to do it now than wait until it's spotted when it's in for it's roadworthy check..
