Hi Dat16, it is quite straight forward, you will need a torch, philips head scredriver and maybe a pair of pliers.
1 push and twist off the h/light and wiper knobs and remover the alloy retaining nut.
2 undo the speedo cable
3 remove steering wheel(it get's in the way)
4 get in the most uncomfortable position you can think of and try and find the 2 screws at the bottom of the guages after about ten minutes crack the ####s and have a beer.
5 after removing the screws try and work out why the hell it will not come out and then remove the ciggy lighter.
6 have another beer and pull the facia from the top and it will (hopefully) pull out without to much trouble
and no I am not trying to be a smartasse
this is what I did the first time I tried it !!
good luck
Ade

[Edit: Previous fella beat me to it..but you get the idea]
Ok...It's not easy... And it's sometimes best to remove the whole dash..especially when there's been wiring changes.

Need to disconnect speedo, dash loom (circular connector), remove stereo volume/tuning knobs and nuts/washers. Remove heater control knobs (screw is underneath) Remove light switch and wiper escutcheons (nuts), Remove connectors to tacho (if fitted). Remove trip meter knobs. Then there's 2 screws either side of the steering column that hold the facia to the steel dash frame. Use a stumpy medium phillips screwdriver.

I've saved you a few hours upside down under the dash, as I'm sure most of the people here have already experienced.

There you go..
Chris

remove the cowling aroudn the steering column too...

To remove the lights, wiper and choke knobs. Pull them all the way out. Then grip the stalk with needlenose pliers. Then push the knob down while gripping the stalk of the switch and twist the knob and it comes out...

I think next time I do this is my car that I will take pictures... IT took me ages to figure out too. probably would have gone insane in my dad didn't figure out the push and turn thing with the knobs...

huh, makes me laugh every time

me and my bro-in-law have a saying

"the stereo install position"

this involves folding the seat right back down then turning yourself upside down in the seat hanging your head in the footwell trying to balance a torch and about three tools twisting your arms around under the dash, its sooo frustrating sometimes

i actually found today that when installing the radio it makes life a lot easier if you take out the glovebox (only 4 screws inside the lid), then you can reach behind that area quite easily through the opening, this could have save me hours previously!
