Have you ever seen any of these Sh-theaps up close..you have read the stories of the level of preparation for the Bathurst 1200s well it was no different for the others. Bathurst is one of the biggest races anywhere.....You can travel the world and petrolheads anywhere know of it. I have been to Bathurst 8 times, it is a special race , one I would dearly love to do, but as time goes on it is more and more unlikely..I would happily pedal a Grp N classic around the Mountain just to be able to say I raced there. Do you suppose that GTRs would be so revered if it were'nt for the Bathurst legend. Mazda were so impressed they named a model of RX7 after the place. What is your definition of a race car ??

Its not that I don't like Ford and Holdens. I just don't like the way the V8 supercar series makes it look like they are the one only performance car, when in reality most manufacturers from around the world would be able to enter this series and blitz it.
The V8 supercars are a great series but I just wish they would have left the Bathurst race the way it was. It was so much more entertaining.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i hate these arguments / civilisied discussion my point was, you saw a flippin XC win this race which you thought was the biggest race with the best cars and in fact it wasn't it was more like a demolishen derby all dressed up, cause they were only average #### heaps racing, but you left with the impression it was a race car!

Whats wrong with dreaming ??? I was turned on to 1200s from watching Shellsport races when they were new and I decided that I was going to have one. I get excited by Escorts with big flares and Minilites cos that was what guys were rallying along with those noisy rotary RX2s and 3s. I watched the XC Falcons win Bathurst i a form 1 2 finish I had to have one of them too. The Cosworth was a purpose built race car just like the V8 Supercars and on full boost still has more horsepower than the current V8s. I still own a dream 1200, Escort and 351XC Falcon. I have written off plenty of RX2 and 3s. I read Hot Rod magazines and dreamed of a Camaro Z28, I have one of them now too. I bought a genuine Torana SS hatchback last month cos I've always wanted one but an old guy saw it and wanted it more it was his dream car!! I know what you are trying to say about the one eyed Brand X fans who in reality have probably never driven their dream cars but have a mate who has. I tend to just ignore them and look out for the guys in the Holden shirts that say some thing like "hey that's a nice Ford(Datsun) you've got there" cos they are a true car enthusiast.

wait a sec
big diffrence between V8 supercar ford and a cosworth and.... it does sound like ford has made a move in the right direction with the BA, especially the turbo im not trying to back paddle here, i just didnt expect this to get into specifics i was more reffering to 18yo blokes dreaming of HQ's, toranas and X* falcons cause they saw them being raced round bathurst when they were young, or at the drags with bloody expensive V8 motors in em

I think brand choice is a personal thing, I like Datsuns and Nissans but there were some pretty nasty and ugly cars that came from them too. I know where your coming from with the sheep like following that the Holdens and Fords seem to have but..I don't think they're dicks or whatever for thinking it. I drove a BA Falcon XR6 turbo in the weekend and was very impressed, it wasted the BA XR8 we had with us. The Monaro GTO that we've just rebuilt is a weapon but I did'nt enjoy driving it as much as the XR turbo. The shove in the back on boost was fantastic and reminded me of my old turbo Skyline which was a rocket ship but it handled like a gorilla on roller skates. We are attracted to different cars for different reasons and you have to respect that . I personally can't stand 120Ys but I don't knock people for enjoying them. And many a 120Y has died to keep my 1200s going...

Hey bob, generally I agree with you on Holden motors.
But I was once given a very good run by a 202 motor, with a TO4 and nitrous. Mind you the thing was a tubbed drag car with no hope of being street registered. It nearly became the only car to ever beat me. You can view topic.
