A standard MG Midget weighs around 1575lb.
Suspension is indep. coil/wishbone/lever arm shock at the front. Live axle rear. Std motor (1972) is 1275cc A series motor. 4 speed box. (basically morris minor, no syncro on 1st)The motor's are quite good but the boxes are weak. Purists would argue that one should'nt do what i'm doing but outwardly and from inside the car, no one will notice anything. Apart from one structural cut, the thing will easily be put back to standard if required but quite frankly, it will be a much better car with the conversion. Midgets are fun cars to drive and have quite reasonable road holding ability even by todays standards.

Regards
Geoff.

Thanks. Should make a nice little car out of it. Quieter, more HP and more potential to modify if required. I'm trying to be fairly detailed with taking lot's of pictures etc. Makes the job a bit more interesting and easier for someone else to follow if they try it themselves. To date I have'nt found anyone on the net who has done this. As with most engine swaps, there's plenty of traps for the unwary!

Kind regards.
Geoff.

Not yet but were really happy that you would kindly offer your time and thoughts in regards to this type of conversion. Im sure the MG will really go well now that the mightly A-Series has landed a home in it.

I'm currently installing engine and gearbox. If anyone is contemplating this I'm happy to answer any questions on progress to date.
