You don't know who Sammy Hagar is??? That song is a classic. Hagar fronted for Van Halen after David Lee Roth left. He often did the song in the VH shows. That reminds me "panama" by Van Halen is another classic driving song. Jeez, I saw Van Halen at LA Coleseium in 1984 where they parachuted into the show, it's up there with one of my favorite all time concerts.

Sammy Hagar is/was the second lead singer for Van Halen. Prior to that he had a hit song as named above. The theme was that his car just couldn't drive that slow (or something like that). Sounds like it might fit your car

but when you buy carbies you actually get something

obviously your going to have to pay something for a license but 270 PER YEAR is huge

i dont like to bad mouth cams because they do a lot of good stuff, but trying to communicate with them is a nightmare, they make rules and then wont even tell you what they are (regarding homoligation)

i have no idea what your talking about ""I can't drive 55" by Hagar"???

$270 is cheaper than a set of carbies ...

What about "I can't drive 55" by Hagar? 55mph (about 95kph) was the US top speed limit for 15 years or so.

No one ever said motorsport was cheap.. My 2 stepsons race karts and that is supposed to be cheap too but it's not. Their 2 karts owe at least 5 grand each and they have to have all the safety gear , helmets, gloves and overalls. Plus we have a trailer to move them everywhere. With club and licence fees it costs over $300.00 a year plus entry fees for away meetings. I spend a least 1 day a week with them stripping and cleaning everything after a meeting plus repairing /replacing parts. They practice at least once a month plus they have a race meeting a month too. They are having more fun than me!!! They are both quite a few years from finding jobs so guess who has to pay for everything ?? I don't know for how long they will be interested but they have gained some great skills as a result and their tactical planning is getting stronger too. I hope the youngest will stick at it and eventually slip into my Dattos race seat so I can watch it get enjoyed by some one else... I would rather pay club memberships to keep them out of trouble and wasting their (my) money paying fines .

i know how ya feel on the dirt bike front im not alowed to ride mine at the track here thay say its too old even tho it is a pure breed motox bike . so i ride in the reserve behind my house and on the subdivison where i work forced to dodge police and angry citizens that throw #### and set up trip wires ect ect pisses me off. u could allways try hillclimbs as an altenive to other track days. i would do it hear except the club here is ####ed and only has a meet every blue moon and un less your in the click never hear about it till the day after

oh yeah and, once i get the a-15 coupes carby sorted i will be looking for some event where i can get an introduction to circuit racing and will go to the drags

any suggestions on the type of event and location for a good introductry run to circuit that aint gonna cost #### loads? id like to give it a try but if its gonna cost too much and im just gonna get run down by faster cars all day id rather dodge parked cars and old people

just thought of another example,

my brother has saved up and bought himself a roll cage and harnesses so his car is fully ready for proper full rallies

now i ask him why isnt he doing proper rallies?

cause the license to do it costs $270 per year! how rediculous is that, its just not worth it until you know your ready to compete in every bloody event of a series or something and even then i dunno why it costs so much, entry fee to each event is over $200 aswell

and he has to get his car logbooked which im not sure what is involved in doing this

so once again we are both going to have to be satisfied with going up bush in the middle of the night and having a bit of a hack around, but at least the vehicle is registered and driver licensed this time

i agree with the track day thing and am signing up for as many rally/autocross things i can find at the moment

thing is there is still two sides

for example:

during the wek i got a dirtbike (honda MT 125 elsinore) its old and crappy but i thought id do the right thing and take it to the track and ride it there

i load up the bike and go down to the local motocross track and ask what i and my two mates have got to do to have a ride of my bike,

answer: $77 bucks each to join as a member till the end of the year and another $10 every time you ride here, do you have a daily thing i ask, NO is the answer

so how do i find out whether i enjoy riding and whether the bike is even capable of surving 1 lap

hmmmm, buggered if i know guess i gotta go up the forest and have a hack around illegaly, what other choice do i have?

racing is good but with all the licenses and fees its frigin hard to get an introduction,

oh and if i did try to ride the track id be just pissing everyone else off cause i would be too slow for two reasons, #### bike and #### rider, making it quite dangerous really cause everyone else is flying through the bloody air

old offspring or short music for short people always get me going in the car

Hmmmmm.......that statement may just come back and kick you in the arse Mike. I'm with the old guys, get out to a track day and find out how good your car control really is. Over the years our car club has run heaps of these and guaranteed there will be at least one guy there with an attitude like yours. They get out on the track and go like a mad bastard usually spinning and locking up brakes. Before the end of the day we will put them in a car with an experienced and smooth driver and show them how a car needs to be driven fast and on the limit. Sometimes they even admit to learning something....but then we also know of a couple of guys we had along who were killed in high speed road smashes too.......
The Crue have some awesome driving songs but my favorite is AC/DC's Shoot to Thrill off Back in Black.
