A all the way...
J15's suck from what I have heard.
And A series will be an easier swap anyway...

The A15 is a bolt-in. It bolts to the stock 1200 transmission, and the motor mounts are just a little different. The water pump, exhaust, etc is more or less the same.

The J15 is a different type of engine, it was in the early 1500 (520) pickup.

the main differences between the engines aer inside (but verry importaint)
1. the J15 has only 3 main berrings A-series have 5
2. J-series have siamesed intake ports (not good for breathing A-series are an 8 port engine
3. a J-series engine will explode if you turn it over 5000rpm for more than an instant. A-series are designed to turn above 5000rpm all day.

My advice is to get the A-15 and let the antiquated pile of rust J-15 rot!!!
