Can someone measure the diameter of the axle tubes? That might be the easiest way to compare.

2332owner, all Japanese B122s had the H165 diff. Check your underhood plate and see if yours is a B122.

Btw, the H165 is also called by Nissan the HC41.

Okay I measured the diff and it's about 21cm from top to bottom in the middle of the pumpkin. It's got bolts holding the carrier in and a bolt holding the brake distribution block on. Here's a pic:

why do want to lock your diff?
if at present u are spinning a wheel, remember, if you stop spinning that wheel, u are putting a lot more stress through other parts in the transmission.
I recokon u are better of spinning wheels than blowing sumthin. Having traction as the weakest link is possibly the best insurance one can have.
Also have yu ever been in a car with a locked diff?

Not recommended unless you are drag racing and tow the car to races. A road car need a limited slip differential instead of a locked differential.

As datsik says, an open (regular) differential will also work ... hehe

In Japan the 1975 models had the H165. Oddly the catalog I have starts in 1975, so I don't know what the 1971-1974 models had.

H165's have bolts. I think 145's have studs and nuts.
Ange your ute would definately have H165!
