#1 Quadthrottle Bodies for sale
paul111 Posted on: 2003/6/25 9:55
hi guys, well i have a set of quad throttle bodies from a GTIR Pulsar. they are 45mm ID. they would make a good conversion for a SR20 powered 1200 or could be adapted for an FJ20.
asking $700 any takers

I'm sure someone could make an adapter to suit...isn't 200kW enough? The money could be spent on something more worthwhile..like Beer, Chicks and Beer.

Chris
ps. Beer is so important..I included it twice.

If you're asking would it adapt itself, the answer would be no, but if you mean can the throttle bodies be mounted to the ca18det, the answer would be yes, but the question is how would you go about it in light of the fact there is no pre-made side-draft manifold made for this engine, which has something to do (obviously & unfortunately) with the logistics associated with the 8 port design, so add the cost of a fabricated intake manifold (and that won't be the easiest one ever made) to the cost of the throttle bodies and, yeah, 200kw is probably good enough.

sure you could get them addapted.all you need to do is get an adaptor manifold made. this would be costing a couple hundred dollars from your local fabricator. or it could be attempted your self

i asked my mechanic and he said dont bother it wouldnt be worth tha money cause quadtroddle body on a turbo isnt as afective as on a n/a motor he said it would be cheaper 2 get a custom one!

Thus the reason you see RB26 guys tossing theres in favor of one enormous throttle body. I definitely wouldn't waste the money.

I thought you guys had more brains than that. SO a bloke told you that they dont work as good in turbo form, thats BULL ####, so NIssan wouldnt have put millions into R&D for the GTIR and GTR and forgot to check if the inlets work better with multi throttles, more to the fact that not everybody can tune them good thats why their taken off. Also think about this the balance you get into each chamber ,surface area of quads to single.but if you dont want them you dont want them!

No one said they "don't work as good" on a turbo engine. What was said was they weren't as effective -- in other words not as big an effect on the turbo motor as the effect on the NA motor (at least I think that's what was meant).

Ford used twin-throttles on the EFI trucks, but only single-throttle on the EFI mustang hi-power models. Did Ford "forget" to use the twin-throttles on the Mustang? No, they used tuned runners after the plenum.

The point is it's easier and less expensive to use a simpler throttle and then use that money somewhere else, like maybe a better more expensive turbo or intercooler. I'm sure that some of those millions were spent in figuring out where to use the cheaper part -- even when it's not quite as good -- and when it was necessary to use the more expensive part. I'm sure Nissan didn't just tell the GTR development team to "use the best part whatever the cost"!

ive got plenty of brains but not with inlet stuff isnt my area! ive owned a SSS turbo with a GTIR motor and U13 motor and there wasnt much difference so i ended up putting a Skyline inlet on u13 and it picked up heaps better than gtir.. sorry i rekon that it wouldnt make much difference and as said below its worth spending 700$ on just bigger trottlebody! and other accesiores!
