What is a fair price to pay for a second hand S13 Ca18DET engine only?(with turbo)

Does anybody have any contacts for suppliers?

Why is the aluminium topped oil filter flange version better?

It's newer. Andrews doesn't have it. I guess if you are going to run an external oil cooler, then it probably doesn't matter.

As for suppliers, it's not as easy as it once was. There are less and less around. Buying someone's local CA18DET from their S13 would be good. Many CA18 powered Silvia owners are converting to RB20 or SR20.

I still prefer to deal with SSS Imports at Girraween. But I do that not to save money on the purchase, but to save money on getting all of the piping, wiring etc that I need, until the transplant is done.

Privately I'd think $800-$1200
Imported $1200-$2400.

Depends what you want. At $2400-$2800 you can get the entire frontcut or halfcut, which means you get ALL of the bits.

Saving Money..or Saving Sanity..which do you prefer??

Thanks Chris

I am planning to run an external oil coiler with aftermarket front mount, turbo and computer.

I have been offered one for $400 (engine that is) and it comes complete with turbo etc

The guy is upgrading as you mentioned.I'm going to change piston's, rod's etc so I really just need the basics.

$ 400 is a gun price but if you miss out, give JustJap a call at kirawee, they are very good.

Yeh, it's about time I built my own and stopped racing everybody elses.
Shock horror, my Honda Civic (94 Model)that I have been building for a couple of years is about to hit the track in Under 2 Litre IPRA.
And the 1200 supercar project is well under way to go in Over 2 Litre IPRA.
Off to Japan in a month or so to race for Mazda again.
