back firing solution? |

for all those with back firing woes, i have stumbled across a possible solution that has stoped the backfiring in my car.... fitting the correct fuel filter.
im my regular datto maintenance procedures (apart from petrol and fanta) i found that somewhere along the line in the past, someone (not me) has put on a more restrictive fuel filter. having replaced it with tthe correct z91s filter, it runs a bit richer and i needed to re tune the car. hence it runs better.
Check these things if in doubt.It worked for me.

You're right, this is a good thing to check. I take it then it wasn't backfiring out the exhaust but up the carb.
A smaller filter is OK, even a more restrictive filter is OK like those built into some carbs. The one on your car was probably needing replacement. They are supposed to be changed every year (but no one does ...)
