The Violets were sold in NZ as 160Js. We also got the SSS coupes. They are still around but are disappearing fast now. I always thought the styling a little odd and prefered the 180B SSS coupe instead.

Violets, sold in NZ as 160J, and in Japan and I guess England as Violets, where sold in US as the Datsun 710, and in South America as the Datsun 1600. I am sure somebody around the world can find a new name, Datsuns change names as languajes there are in the world. The first 710's are supposed to be rear live axle, the former ones are IRS, like the 610(180B).I've seen some 710 with lowered suspension and nice tires, they look mean and are fast. Once a good suspension /tires/wheels are added, the 710(160J) looks very cool.

They were called 140j/160J both in UK and Europe, and only the SSS models had IRS.

That shape is the 710 160J 2 door Hardtop. Also available as a sedan and a wagon. Then the 160J became the A10 series which looked very different but was mechanically similar.

Amazing what you can find when you know what to look for :P

Whats one worth in NZ?
