You know, I do work for the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad! I wonder if I could find a set of those laying around?
Jaime, ever since my old laptop died a few months ago I've been lurking on this site. I do stop in every morning to see what's up. I just haven't been posting.
As for the long pipes and such, I placed the turbo on the opposite side for a few reasons. First of all, if it is hidden down below the manifolds, no one goes "ooh!" whe the hood opens. Also, there just isn't a whole bunch of room over there and it gets kind of "busy" with all of that hardware. I'm sure I had others, I just don't remember them right now.
My theory on the long pipes is as follows, the dreaded "W" word (Subaru WRX) has very long runners from the heads to the turbo and they won several WRC championships. I feel that once the engine is up and running, there is always going to be a goodly quantity of gas flowing through the pipes. I'm using a smallish turbo so the spool up should be fine. It won't make the most top end power, but I'm not looking for maximum power or I wouldn't be starting with a A-12! Not bashing A-series engines, I love them. Just being realistic about max power potential.
Then again, I could be dead wrong with all of my thoeries and it will be a slow turd. But it will be my slow turd dag-nabbit!
