Come on guys! If we all donate only $1.00 the club would raise about $6000 (I think!) Haven't member numbers.

I think the annual fee would be the way to go.
Also a bit more merch, so there wiull be a bit of back up cash for the site when there arnt enough new members etc etc

If there was a Paypal donate button on the main page I'd regularly donate cup-of-coffee-sized amounts of money.

I'm keen to put some forward for his (db) time to do the PM sent items and email notification upgrade. The last time I sent to his personal pay-pal but I think there might be another one that is used for the site? Not sure.

I dont think that have a compulsary fee is the way to go. I mean, would you have joined up to start with if you had to fork over cash?

Have to agree, I probably wouldn't have joined if I had to pay but would donate if there was an option to. On the other hand spammers won't pay either so it's a good filter, a small fee may suffice. But maybe I'd pay if someone recommended it to me. Good discussion.

Perhaps donations could help pay for someone to filter all applications for membership and prevent spammers that way? Anyone here an internet security expert? Or know anyone they can ask? I'm sure this problem has been solved before.

What about the way toymods does it.

You can join and post for free but you can also pay to become a full member.

This gives you the right to issue infractions to spammers/trolls/douchebags.

Once the spammer/troll/douchebag has a certain number of infractions (3??) their account is suspended for a set period (six weeks???)

I have a feeling that the xoops clinet might not be able to do that as toymods uses a diff one but it seems to work well over there.
