I got a 1200 the other day at a swap meet. Im strongly considering puttin a 12A rotary in it. Any thoughts?

Go with the 13B rotary. Might as well have the best.

So what province are you in? British Columbia? Do they let you do these kind of engine conversions there?

i would love to put a rotary in my ute, simply coz it would go so ####in hard. ppl always say they are gay coz they wear out and are inefficient but if u buy a 13b its the newest so it wouldnt be that bad.also i hate it how ppl say its stupid putting mazda in datsun but in the end it dont matter wat car but how well it goes eh , go for gold i reckon !!

i actually live in misrouri. the reason we're going with a 12a is because we have spare housings laying around. good 13b rotor housings are hard to come by. the first gen rx7's with the 12a have exceeded 150,000 miles on the stock engine, so there is no reliability issues with a 12a.

well having just brought a rotory engined car i would have to say, YES do it, they are awesome engines, the only main differance withe 12A and 13B is that the 12A revs higher but the 13B creates more power/torque.

go the 12A bridgeport it, rejett the nikki 4barrell carb and youll be away laffing.

yea. the car needs some work on the floor, its kind of rusted through so im going to weld some sheet metal on the floorboard and then ill get the engine in. me and my friend phil bought the car together at a swap meet and he has an 85 rx7 with a 12a. he put an lsd on it so i have his old rear-end that we can use, my other friend has a transmission and all we need is to rebuild an engine and ill be set. im looking forward to having this car rorary powered

I would strongly recomend you think of other engine swaps...Dont get my wrong the Rotarys are a nice engine but not the 12a imo...

There are plenty of RWD engines that absoutley sh!t over the 12a..eg FE DOHC mazda engine from 1988 Capella 626, these engines are perfect for turbo charging just lowering the compression the only engine mod needed as the stock internals handle upwards of 350hp..

look at the cost though, how much would it cost to do what your talking about? i can do this swap for about 500 dollars. we already have the rotor housings street ported. i have a rear-end, i know where i can get a REAL cheap transmission, and then i just have to get a re-build kit and im good. ill put it in my self. but im open for new ideas.

Go for it -- you got the parts, the friends to help out and the motivation.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I guess that applies here too. An engine in the car driving down the road is better than dreaming and waiting for the "perfect" mod.
