I am building this car for a rally car, A 12A is lighter and i can get plenty of power. I will have around 200+hp when we get it ported, and just wait until it's supercharged. Trying building your piston engines to run with me and still stay within 500 dollars of my budget. It wont happen. If I had the money, I would consider it. But i just bought a Honda S2000 and can't afford a car payment AND expensive $3,000 engines

I dont see anything wrong with rotors...well apart from the fact they sound like overpowered lawnmowers aspecially when ported
. If you love rotors and know enough about them then i say go for it, I woudnt put a rotor in a datsun myself, i would rather go with something that has torque e.g 308 v8,350 chev v8 or a SR20DET. in the end it comes down to this, our love for datsuns and thats all that matters in my books.Karl

hay i highly recomend the rotary conversion for very good times on the strip i wish now that i had put a rotary in my ute instead of a ca18det but i'll see what the difference is in near future as i finish my 1000 ute with a pac motor 13b turbo... good luck

i still have much love for datsuns. just because it has a different engine doesn't mean its not mostly datsun.

A12's can run decent quarter times.!!
The Tony Marsh shellsport coupe ran 13.6 at 101mph in 1981 at meremere, all 1298cc and 578 kg of it.... Now you definately couldnt drive that one in traffic....

not sure about USA's rally rules, but Aussie's rally rules in the 80's (Group G) allowed huge freedoms, and resulted in many (still) famous cars. Madsuns (rotary powered 1600's) were popular, George Fury had an L20 powered 120Y rally car, Murray Cootes legendary setback L series powered 1200 coupe which ran with a variety of engines over the years including a screaming 1950 odd cc L18 and a grunter L24 which was faster, but not quite as aurally thrilling. bring back Group G rallying! Iain Stewart (who now co-drives for Ed Ordinski) was Murray's navie and still rates that 1200 as his favourite rally car... we got chatting after he set up the carbs on my car, when he came back from his test drive with a huge grin on his face

i think that most ppl that buy a datto and do it up want it to be fast right? and if it is cheaper to buy a rotary to make it fast, wats wrong with saving money? they may not be the best engine for the street but on the dragstrip in a car such as a datto that cant really handle a v6/8 a rotar is most probably the fastest thing u could use. just a quick question how come only mazda make rotars is it a patent issue or wat? and lets say down the track nissan make rotars, how many of u loyal datsun fans would use a rotary then?
