The R160 is MUCH smaller than an R200. The Silvia will have CV jointed shafts like the Brumby but the size and design will be different.

On an R160 the two splined shafts that go into the sides of the diff are the same length and on an R200 they are different left and right. Also the R200 is wider than the R160 so the length of the driveshafts will vary, especially the left side.

The method for retaining the axles into the diff is different too. the Subaru diff will have bolt-in axles and the R200 will have snap rings.

I think the later, facelift Z31 Nissan 300ZX might have come with an R200 LSD but I'm not sure. Most other cars that came with LSD R200's used the Viscous type unit, housing in a different design casing that won't fit. I believe it is possible to build the internals from one of these into your R200 but you will still need to do some work with the driveshafts as the viscous diff requires special driveshafts. Late S13 and S14 Silvias and 200SX (180SX) have these VLSD's.

Ya I know a guy here in Finland who has Combined the R200V Viscous LSD and the R200 open to get a visvous LSD for Silvia. He had to have new halfshafts made for him, 200e a piece.

Yea, the facelift Z31 Turbo's had a 3.7 R200 clutch type LSD. Starting on 4/87, with only exception being the 1000 pieces SS Edition that was only made 1000 pieces in 1988, with pearlescent white color, recaro seats, etc, they had a viscous lsd.

Well, I guess I just have to try to find a facelift Z31 turbo's rear diff. That will most likely be a direct bolt. The only thing is that in my country there are only a handful of those, gotta import it from somewhere else.

Ah, I didn't notice you were in Finland before. I have been there twice and certainly never saw any 300ZX's on the road. But then again, I never saw any S12's yet you have one

Hey you live in H

instead of puttin in a different diff centre or wateva cant u just shorten or lengthen ur tailshaft to suit then just put in what ever diff u want as long as the track width and ratio is close to what u want? i think of things differently this sorta seems like a much easier way to go maybe there are problems?

I have just made a spring loaded locker for my coupe but more importantly we are currently preparing an impreza for the rally of canberra. Last night we took the gearbox out because we suspect the front LSD is worn. That means that I will have my hands on a Subaru LSD centre this weekend, then I just have to find the time to see how much work is involved in making it fit a H165 housing.
So, if you dont hear from the original thread starter then stay tuned because I want to see if the wrx LSD can be modified to keep 1200 nuts happy.
