I now have an original Datsun 1000 ad from the January 1970 edition of the Readers Digest, so now we have established that there was a 1970 "model", & that they were "sold" in 1970, but your question was "were they MADE in 1970." Still working on that one.
If anyone knows what month the 1200 was released in Australia, this might give a clue as it would take some months between the time a car was made, transported to Australia, distributed to the various state distributors, then to the dealers, & finally to a buyer. If 1200's came out in Feb or March, then the answer is most likely to be no.
So lets hear from the 1200 historians. When was this car released in Australia. {Check your old Readers Digests] Chris

Sedans are divided into two basic groups that are separated by the tail light size. The better looking one , in my view, was the earlier, shorter one. Heres the breakdown. Smaller tail light with dome blinker = '67... 2 doors only. [4 door not invented yet.] Smaller tail light with short spear = '68... 2 & 4 door.
Wide tail light with short spear = '69... 2 & 4 door. Wide tail light with long spear = '70... 2 & 4 door.
In my view, the '68 had the best grille & the 4 door was the better looking of the sedans, so be proud of your car. They are great little movers. My 4 door is a '68 model & it has served me well for over 2 decades, but will now be "converted to components" & the 1200GX & 5 speed box from it will go into my 1000 coupe. Chris P.S. The serial number range for the '68 4 door sedan is from B10 - 80003 [from Oct. '67] to B10 - 200,000 [to Sept. '68]

According to my parts book, Datsun DID sell the B10 & it's derivatives for the 'Model year" of 1970. The Distinguishing feature is supposed to be the larger "1600" sized blinker spear.
Heres the info Model B10 [2 door] From S / No. B10 350001 & LB10 033269
Model B10 [4 door] From S / No. B10 350001 & LB10 033269
Model VB10 ]Van / Wagon] From S / No. 240001
Model B20 [The Ute] From S / No. B20 061001 & LB10 003001
KB10 [Coupe] From KB10 080001
All from July 1969, so they got in early for the 1970 "model"
All coupes appear to have had their own part numbers for the blinkers due to the "unique to the model" wiring plug.
The short spear is "Assembly - lamp side marker From Oct '67 to June '69. All, except coupe 26160 - 27700"
Long spear is "Lamp - Side flasher. From July '69 All, except coupe 26160 - H0110"
As far as i know, they were sold here in Australia as late as June 1970, but i can not prove that. I hope that this is of some help. Chris
