I need to get some pics of it, but there's a guy here in texas that took a B310 engine/trans and rear axle and put them in a Mini! Might be one of the only RWD Minis in the world. A Datto powered Minor sounds like fun.

well the idea was to have a real old school car.
the idea of having a old school twin webber car just appeals to me :)
You woulnt expect a Morris Minor to pull a awesome burnout or have the vurrrrrr of twin webbers :)

there used to be a company advertising all the conversion stuff for morries,like torana brakes & a series engine & gearbox mounts in street machine magazine,but this is years ago,& i don't know if that company still exists.the rta now wants these cars to use toyota 4a's,to keep the emissions down,or some such excuse.so somebody out there must know what bits to use.there was even a morris minor in historics with full mg running gear,was a bit of a shell.try the street machine association in your home state,they might have somebody with a car you could look at.just a warning,these are now considered classics,so the price of even a wreck would be lots.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

Dude if it appeals to you go right ahead ! The old Morries aren`t exactly everywhere to be seen and would be a refreshing change as well ! Gettin` sick of the thousands and thousands of same old "plastic,neon lit, Doof-Doof RICERS" that seem to be on almost every street corner!!!!!!!!

yeah thats the bad thing :( Im just getting to the age when i want a old fast car :) 1200's are too hard to find and i think a decent example of a morrie will be too. But ill be looking dont worry

if u want an old fast car get urself a mazda 808 wagon and put a mad turbo rotar in it, theres one of them and its coming first and has won ten out of ten races in i think the improved production class in australia.

These sound like the words that i would expect to come from someone who couldn't find his buttocks with both hands.
Bloody hell, i'm chasing bits for a car that had a total production run in Australia of not more than about 100 at best, & more than likely, not more than about 60, & was discontimued in production almost 72 years ago. I have three of them & i still occasionally turn up with parts.
Datsun 1200, hard to find? Unbelievable. Pick up a copy of your major metro newspapers, trading post, [also on-line] & start asking anybody who will stand still long enough to hear your request. The best way to find a car is to LOOK.
To B310GX The use of the name Morris Minor, & the word "Classic" in the same sentence seems to be a contradiction in terms. They were a car that did a job,..... just,...... so lets not get carried away here. Chris.

An A series engine in a mini sounds interesting, but since minis are FWD wouldnt it only get a small power increase unless you converted it to RWD? . if i were to put a Nissan engine into a small european car it would be a old Chevette hatchback, has anyone ever done this before? im seriously considering doing this as i have recently sold my 120y and can get hold of a body of a Chevette hatchback easy.

Now here's a thought.
If what you want really IS a "real" old school Morris Minor, then think "Q ship" which is what we called them back then. The good ones had Ford V8 60's in them or the french made Simca Vedette V8 which was pretty much the same thing. Use a late gearbox etc, but these smaller versions of the Ford V8 side valve were actually quite popular at one time & their availability in Australia is better now that ever as the historic speedcar racers used them. Speed equipt. is also still available for them brand new. Now that really is an "old school" car.

hey dodgy,do you remember the eighties,when it was consider 'cool' by the yuppies to have a sixties car,preferably stock,restored to original condition.big waste of money.morris minors are like that,you have to change the engine,gearbox,rear end,suspension,brakes & interior just to make them close to a stock 1200.some people don't know any better  .the best thing, i suppose,was the rack & pinion steering,but who knows how well that was made,either.  ps you still haven't come back for the back half of that 1000 coupe yet.
