sorry for hoggin the thread, whats the deal with the k8 motor, sounds real interesting. can u get it in aus? how long is the motor?

I was thinking K8, because what we'd need is a small capacity V6, but I think the K8 might be too wide, and would definitely need new intake manifold/piping etc, which would be a lot of work for some people. But It still would be interesting if someone had the time, money and enthusiasm.

After the space for the OHC heads goes in, I'm not sure that it would fit in a 1200 engine bay. The simpler of the VG30s (non quad cam) might be a better transplant, but then keeping it within the capacity laws for NSW rego would be difficult.

I wish the VG20ET was a better engine. it's not real similar to the nicer VG30DETT engine. If only Nissan made a VG20DET.. That'd be nice for a 1600

My mate Pete's VG30DET in his Pillarless 80's model Bluebird 910 is cool as. It sounds (and behaves) like an animal.

hey there was a 4agze in zoom that pushed 204kw@rw with stock internals remember that they have semi forged pistons all this one had was a GT30 turbo 3ltr plenum 550cc injectors and ran the fastest 1/4 time on street tyres MR2 there a great engine toyota build them well as do nissan of course 1.6 bore stroke is square so they put big turbos on them and make good power to but there is a rwd spec of them but all depends on what you want of it good luck

204kw? are u sure it wasnt 204.6571kw? maybe it was. Becos to me that sounds like ur tugging at everyone's ball sacks. At the engine that would be difficult to beleiv from the toyota engine. Thats more then double what they put out standard at the wheels. maybe they ment .. ca18det with 4agze oil cap?? now thats more beleivable.

the 4agze was and is still a very good motor and because of the supercharger they came with forged pistons etc. not sure about the 204kw but i wouldnt be to shocked if it was true. How about the 3sge (2ltr twin cam), it comes in celicas, currens and rav4s, all different spec but same block. you can get sheit loads of hp out of them and theres heeps of spares and mod parts. Im not sure how much one would weigh though.

Toyota 4AGE have moped-like internals, good thing about is that it weights about nothing but for supercharging or turbocharging applications it's just pain in the ass. For example connecting rod bearings surface area is just about one third of 2TG, FJ20 or L-series engines, meaning that under boost very light pinging will destroy bottom end.

So if you want real power with low cost stay away from 4AGE....

4agze dry weight = 154kg

(ca18det is only 128)

Supercharger weights about 30KG, 4A-engines are the most lightweight cast-iron block 1600 engines. Also 4A RWD trannies are much lighter than Nissans execpt A-series but they also aren't exactly bulletproof.

alrighty im searchin other motors

the GTR familia is getting a look in, heres a link to some cool info, but i think the move away from the popular motors is gonna cost BIG in the end

i have the feeling that even after searching/ researching im gonna come back to the good ol' CA

gtr familia motor

actually looking at this link makes me want to buy my dream car, the GTR familia

and to think a TX3 4wd turbo laser is for sale for AUS$4500 in the local rag, which to those who dont know is exactly the same as a GTX familia, one step below the GTR, damn it's tempting!!!

anyone for a sweet 1200?? a15 big brakes suspension, (injection, and twin turbo waiting to go on)
