i like it, i was looking for a 1200 ute but 1000 isnt too bad, is it just stock other than lowering it? have you cut the springs? if not do you still ahve the original springs?
1500 sounds alright but would ahve to have a look at it and all that.

You can't cut springs on a 1000. They are leaf not coil.

Post some engine mount pics for the rota boys please.

Lowering the front of a 1000 is MUCH more simple & cost effective [free] than that crass method of buying new springs, dismantling the whole front end, then rebuilding it all over again.

Datsun 1000's have a REAL front end, which is FULLY ADJUSTABLE at wheel alignment time, unlike those other cars with pogo stick suspension.

P.S. Dattoman1K That aught to get 'em going.

Leaf reset is good, but reducing the height of the rubber block that the ends of the leaves sit on will lower the car to the legal headlight height of 600mm without messing up the spring rate.
The headlight height will be the defining limit in a "legal" car. I forget how much rubber that i needed to remove to lower my sedan, but it was not a lot. Something like 3/8" from a pair of used & partly worn blocks did the trick.
Anyone who is contemplating this will need to work out the ratio of the distance from lower wishbone pivot to the rubber as a percentage of the distance from the same pivot to the centerline of the tyre.

I do not remember the ratio [it was 20 years ago] but if it was 50% for example, then removing 1/2" of rubber should lower it 1", which would bring it close to the legal limit from memory, so measure the actual headlight height first, then do the maths on the wishbone distances.

I catagoricly recomend AGAINST cutting or heating ANY suspension spring. It is bad engineering. You have done it the right way, although cutting rubber is quite satisfactory for "mild" lowering in THIS particular design of suspension.
