Did it happen all at once or was it a gradual thing?

Start with the basics - check/renew fuel filter, ignition timing.

What sort of carby have you got - check the power valve.

Need more info.......................

Slowly...
Timing is good, stock carby just rebuilt, starter motor just serviced, fuel filter is still good fairly new. This happened when I started fiddling with the idle and throttle mixture and my economiser stopped working, but I took it to the mechanic and he adjusted the carby and he said it should be fine now but still my economiser is not working.

what is an economiser???
also, check all your vacuum hoses for leaks, you may have bumped one off or you may have hit one and formed a small crack!
just a my 2 cents

were you in fourth?

check your leads and coil, and distributor. maybe it's just a bad batch of fuel of recent so check your filter anyway they only cost a couple bucks so why not replace it if suspect. my 25 cents

Your not a heffer like me (105kgs) are you. I think it just comes with the joys of a stocky A12. I was kept getting over taken by a semi tanker comming up the adelaide hills when mine was running. but boy did i catch him on the down run.

Same problem on a N11 Pulsar...dirty plugs.
Take the plugs out and either
A replace the spark plugs or
B take to the old ones with a wire brush and check the spark gap... should fix your problem.

Is it only when going uphill?
Perhaps wen you go around corners as well?

Could be your float needley thing...

I say this to everyone with a stock carby;THROW IT IN THE BIN!!!!!! i love datsun1200's but i hate the standard carby! if it only happens going up hills it could be the float/jet, it could just be as simple as having dirty jets or bad batch of fuel. to clean out carby rev the motor to about 2000rpm and shove hand over the top of carby(with air filter taken off) the engine will struggle but rev it until it returns to normal repeat a couple of times and see how you go. let us know how you go!
