#1 Wanted: Ideas for 120Y (76) rebuild...
120yRsik Posted on: 2003/12/1 8:32
Hi Everyone,
hoping to use your experience to solve some possible problems b4 I cause them.

O.K. here's the story so far:

Originally bought the datto for $500 about 3 yrs ago now. It looked & ran great for her age with only a bit of rust in the door sills.
Didn't do a thing to her -till now.

I recently invested in a A14 with A15 head (which I'm in the process of rebuilding and possibly boring), Have stripped the entire body back (fixed the rust) and will shortly be respraying.
I've gotten hold of a weber carbie (not sure what type) need to find suitable manifold.
For the near future I hope to:
*Get a 5 spd (only have 4)
*Extractors
*Custom dash + center console
*Upgrade diff ???
*better mags
*Suspension upgrade ???
*Brake upgrade ???
*custom door, carpet & boot trim

I'm not sure if I will need to make all of the upgrade's I've mentioned. Basically I wanna bring her back to better then show room, I wanna make sure I do everything right (preferably the 1st time).

So if any1 can help with tips, experience, parts, ideas - Anything - Please let me know

Cheers Holly

short and sharp now, ask for detail where necesary

-5 speed is srtaight bolt up, except you may require mods to crossmember for it, $800 or $600 if you get lucky

-yeah good idea, bout $280 brand new, and bout $220 for new muffler and 2 inch rest of the way through (2inch is best size)

-have fun with that one!!

-if you have the borg warner then dont worry if not, thats probably best or the 1200 ute diff (h165), (borg warner identifiable by removable back plate) if it doesnt have that its h145

-again good luck, 13s and 14s are easy but 15+ gets tricky with offset and stuff (you can get TRX bluey 15's though)

-stanza struts, stock rear leafs, new shocks all round if needed (be honest, huge improvement), and nolethan/urethane bushes will stiffen it up well too

-comes with stanza struts

-carbon fibre looks good (yeah i know, expensive), vinyl paint gives a good effect, search for pics of "muke"s car

See now I don't like the idea of changing how the car looks on the inside unless it's a period look. As for the rest yeah that'll be good fun when it's rolling
