harmonic balancer

does anyone know of a harmonic balancer that can be made to fit an a15 engine.the race engine in the sunny has a serious harmonics problems from 7000 rpm onwards,& has almost shaken the starter off once, done in two oil fittings,& vibrated loose the oil filter.i know it's not a balance problem,as the motor was fine with the old, smaller cam in it,but this new cam is making so much power that the crank is flexing.i have a long term solution, but that will take a couple of months,so i need to get a harmonic balancer until then.a friend how had one made up for his a15 (same cam, same capacity, same problem),says someone told him a balancer from another engine would fit,but he can't remember who told him,or what engine the balancer came from.please,if anyone knows for certain, let me know before the flywheel drops off & ruins the crank.
thanks, paul.

just as a suggestion. you could try mounting counter weights onto the block. O.E uses these quite alot

the long term plan is to get a fully counter-weighted crank made up by a friend,he's done these for volkswagens(hundreds of these),mitsubishi astron engines,a toyota 18rc,plus some other odd ones,& he's always said the a15 crank would be an easy job.so.it's get a good stock one off to him,& when he gets a chance,he'll do it.however, that could be a couple of months away,& i've got a supersprint on the 29th of february i want to run,& that's only just over a month away.plus,i've got to get a new clutch, cause the new motor overpowered it.goes like a cut snake,it does.

dattodevil.
Can you please tell more about the procedure and how it works? Is it not counterweights on the crank? How will it work on the block? b310gx. I am soooooo glad I am not the only one with harmonic problems. My standard 1200GX also have harmonic frequency at 5600 to 5800rpm. Today while driving to work a guy thought he was trying to be quick in his standard A14 bakkie and I guess he revved to 5800rpm to get good speed past me in first gear. My window was down next to the guy. HOW THE HELL do the guys get it right here at datsun1200.com to rev standard A12 and A14 engines to 7000rpm. That A14 was getting definately harmonic distortion at those revs as it did'nt sound very good. It wanted to climb out infront of the engine bay!!

Well I haven't tried it myself yet, but I see it every day in my job. most manufacturers mount rubber mounted weights on engine mounts, in steering wheels, on engines and gear boxes. all for the sole purpose of eliminating harmonic vibrations. its worth a try and wont cost you much time or effort
