I know about the roadster Sr20DET swap.
I'm talking about the DATSUN 1200 swap

belgian_roadster, we don't know of anyone who's actually done the swap, but we willl share what knowledge we do have, and between the Aussies, Kiwis and Yanks, we might be able to help you, but you will be breaking new ground.
The biggest hurdle is the LHD steering box. Either convert to rack and pinion, or you're going to need a custom turbo manifold, and you may have to cut the LH engine compartment sheet metal. Andy also wants an SR20DET in his LHD Coupe. Good luck!

I thought about power steering conversion too. Streets in my part of Belgium aren't straight lines. Maybe the power steering will make things easier.
Right now I'm trying to collect as much info as possible. Have absolutely no idea what the engine bay of a B110 looks like. It's all new to me. I'm used to Datsun Roadster. The cars, I actualy bought 2, 1 good, one spare, are still in Portugal and will be carried to Belgium in the next weeks. So I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst. You act better if you're prepared

Funny you mention it, my brother wants to do a SR20DET into a Roadster. Right now he's looking for a donor 180SX to drive around/fix up and then he'll gut it out and take the parts back to the US and buy a Roadster there to do the swap. I've seen a couple swaps on the net for Roadsters, one was on Ebay with a KA24DE which is bigger than an SR20, with the exception of the turbo...that sticks out a little. I'm going to be doing an SR20DET swap into my LHD 1200 coupe sometime soon...whenever I get another 180SX parts donor! From what I've heard the stock turbo hits the steering box, which I haven't tried yet. As a backup, I bought a top mount T3/T4 manifold, with which it will definitely fit. I've seen a totally stock SR20DET fit right into a RHD 1200 Ute, the advantage we have is more room on the other (passenger) side of the engine, plus we already got the hydraulic clutch setup to match the SR20's clutch. Whenever I get the donor SR20 engine/tranny I will try to fit it stock first to see how everything fits. I will also take tons of pictures of the conversion as it goes along and post them on the net for everyone else to see.
Start thinking about other things you'll have to modify as well; larger fuel lines/surge tank/EFI pump, larger brakes, rearend, moving the E-brake back, fitting the largest tires in the back possible, intercooler/radiator/fan size and placement (as it's a tight fit from front to back). I'm thinking to give even more room up front of cutting the first two accessory grooves off the crank pulley as all I'll need is the main belt (water pump and alternator). You're gonna have to maximize the room in front of the engine as much as possible since the SR is so much longer. I have yet to see a SR or CA powered 1200 in person, but you can just imagine the possibilities. My automatic near stock 180SX runs 14.0 in the quarter mile and weighs AT LEAST 1500 lbs more than the 1200. Losing the weight and adding a bigger turbo/injectors/ECU tune and you'll have the fastest car around if you can get traction and not break anything! I'm aiming for about 300-350 rwhp for my SR swap. Rearends in Japan are the problem, the best I could get is an H165 LSD Ute diff that will for sure bust in no time. Good luck finding a Roadster or 510 wagon H190 here!!!! I don't plan on registering and driving the car until I return to the US, then I can get a nice rearend done up. If you start your swap before I do, let me know what you encounter and how it goes! Good luck! -Andy

Here's a pic of an SR20DET. It's in a 510 engine compartment, but gives you a good idea of where the parts are relative to the brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder:
SR20DET in LHD Datsun 510 Reportedly an SR20 fits into a 1200 without cutting the firewall, but you'd probably need an automatic car to avoid modifying the manual-trans tunnel. The KA24 fits better, and has more capacity too. You might consider that. KA24E in LHD Datsun 1200 Then there is the L20B and Z20 swaps: Z20 in LHD Datsun 1200 Engine swap article

AFRacer,
Where have you bought this top mount T3/T4 manifold from? BTW are you having contact to Nissan Dealer in Japan? It's for the roadster. The roadster wasn't common here in Belgium, special order only. So most parts have been deleted from the european parts database. Nissan Europe only wants to order parts for the roadster if they are sure they still are available in Japan. But the are not going to inquire in Japan for availability. They don't want to waste their time with that! So it would be great having someone in Japan who could ask for availability at a japanese Dealership. But even this will not be easy, I think they have to make a terminal, PC connection with Nissan Motor Limited to ask for availablity. But who knows, maybe there are still some nice dealers around?
