#1 sidedrafts on an old a12
reuby_tuesday Posted on: 2004/3/8 16:24
Folks

I read the info on carbys in the tech section about SUs. I want to put twin SUs onto an old round port a12, the one with the dizzy at the front. I emailed redline and they said they dont make one, but the tech section suggests that they have the same bolt pattern as the sidedraft webbers.

This is the listing on the redline page
NISSAN - DATSUN
PART NO. 12-3060 Datsun (Nissan) 1000, 1200, 120Y, 140 (A10, A12, A12A) Manifold designed to accept 2 x 40 DCOE Weber Carburettors.
LINKAGE KIT P/NO. 42-2560

http://www.redlineauto.com.au/manifold.html

Question is, will this manifold kit fit my SU's , which came off a 1600, and bolt to the round port a12 head that I have, and are they likely to fit under a 1000 bonnet?

and as I have some headers fitted as well, wiull they present a heat problem or get in the way?? they are cheap hurrican headers for a 120y made to fit

I also justfound this web page, but its on the US I think. They sell lynx manifolds for twin SUs but the I dont understand the jargon that descibes the mainfolds

1200
M041 MANIF DATSUN 1200 1 X DCOE/DHLA
M042 MANIF DATSUN 1200 2 X HS4 SU
M137 MANIF DATSUN 1200 2 X HS4 SU

thanks inb advance

The Tech Section shouldn't say that. I couldn't find, PM me if it does and I'll correct it. Weber sidedrafts are dual-bore carbs, SUs are single-bore.

DCOE = Weber sidedraft
DHLA = Mikuni sidedraft

Not sure what "HS4" means.

HS4 is a volvo carb. similar in design to an S U or Hitachi side draft, but no parts of the carbs are interchangable. talk to the guys at ztherapy

www.ztherapy.com

they may know where to get the manifold you are after.

Mr Tuesday

Give Lynx a call http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/

I had trouble sourcing the adaptor for my down draught, I called them and they asked for the bolt spacing and bingo, next day delivery.

S.U. nomenclature for 1.5" bore carburretor is HS4, 1.75" bore carb is HS6.

reuby_tuesday, thanks for the PM about the carb article. I re-worded it to be clearer.
