#1 Stanza Struts on a 1200 Coupe
MrShaun Posted on: 2004/3/24 8:18
How do I put Stanza struts into a 1200 coupe?

What modifications - if any, do I need to do?

This process has been documented before and can be found on this website in the technical section.

I have stanza struts, stanza control arms, stanza ball joint assy and 1200 springs on my 1200 with a CA18-det.

It has also been said you need 120y castor rods. I did not use these but look into it.

If you by struts and want brakes to - get the Girlock brakes. Much easier on parts.

old_school,
Can this swap be done with basic hand tools? do you need something to compress the spring with? I'm planning to do this swap shortly myself.

I would recomend using spring clamps on the stanza springs before undoing the top nut on the strut. Or it flies appart as the stanza springs have alot of compression.

The 1200 springs I was able to compress by hand and got a mate to fit the strut top and nut,

Apart from that all you need is a socket set.

make sure you get em from a square headlight stanza, they have the girlock calipers as was mentioned,

the other version is the same as a sunny strut and no where near as good

i wrote an article on the instll on my www link below

Thanks for that info, I read your web site and it was very helpful, I am pretty sure I have the struts with the girloc brakes.

the stanza conversion is easy. we used 240z inserts and cut the tube down to size and welded it back together. the springs were then cut down. this gave a good ride height without loosing all the suspension travel. and it rides like a rock with stanza springs, and yes they do fly of when released. sunny control arms are know adjustable along with 120y castor rods. its a good conversion.
