#1 Soundproofing 1200 Ute
1956 Posted on: 2004/4/20 4:10
The ute is in original condition including original mats etc. Anyone done any work on improving soundproofing?? how about under bonnet etc?? Rear cab wall and floor behind seats looks like the major spots for some gain in reducing the noise.

I would suggest buying a spray on sound proofing we had a lot of luck with a loud Honda and it did the trick, you could also do the underside with a spray on sealer-might just help.

Thanks.

I'll give it a go. First thing will be new rubber and wheels, shocks etc. Then i'll start with the soundproofing.

There is a really good article about soundproofing cars at www.autospeed.com.

The address is :

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2085/article.html

You can read the start of the article for free, but you need to subscribe to get access to the whole thing.

Had a look at the article. I think it confirms what I will be doing. Under bonnet mat, cab rear wall with mat and cover + sound deadening paint in cab caveties. Should make some difference.

Thanks for the info. This site is fantactic with all you lot willing to help the new boy(dat owner on the block)

i did the same to my ute a few years back, can't remember the name of the products but i used this stuff that needed to be painted on with an old brush (it was almost like tar), i did this on the floor and the rear wall. I used the spray on sound deadener to reach the inside of my doorskins. new carpet and new rubbers all round did the trick.
it sounded as quiet as a new car (well almost)
