#1 bad news
Posted on: 2004/4/27 12:49
bad news, had to spend $300 on my front end today, new nolathane bushes, passenger tie rod and castor rods and wheel bearings, my tie rod actually had stress cracks.

the bad news is, they do not make standard rubber bushes for 1200's any more, only high spec nolathane ones and also bearings have gone up in price...... im annoyed.

when i recently went looking for new rubbers i was flooded with places offering me rubber bushes. once company i know of who can help as long as you give them good details of WHAT shape etc bushes they are is Grommet Rubber Pty Ltd. they sell through Auto1 stores and others like that. Ive still got my old (but new looking) bushes if you want some reallly badly. mine are all nolathane now and my car doesnt scrape or hit anywhere even with 3 passengers ! (note i also replaced front inserts and rear shocks as well as all front/rear bushes including swaybar bushes)

Nolathane has to be the best thing i have done, once i put in the stanza struts and lower the car and have new shocks up the back it will all be much better but going from those old rubbers to new nolathane was like going from floating down a river to riding on rails, money well spent i say

The first thing I would do is change your parts supplier, What not try a small non franchised operation, they in most cases do not have a prefered brand I.E nolathane.
I deal thru a place in Brisbane and in every part I have bought they have given me a choice.

hate to tell you now but I got a complete ( every one) set of nolithanes for $205 nz. I know the rodends and the berring would have cost something but be careful, some places will charge you an arm and a leg of nolithanes because they are "high preformance" parts. But you right, they are money well spent and will last a long time.
