After an eternity, the supercharged A14 is finally a runner! Tommorow all I have to do is tidy up some of the wiring, and fabricate an accelerator cable mounting bracket,and change the bonnet catch on to the bonnet which has the "special modification".
Who your datty is hopefully coming up tommorow, so we can get some pics.
I really can't wait.

HAHA! I'm looking to build something similar, my A14 equipped car arrives monday.

Is yours blow or suck through? I was thinking of going blow tghrough & somehow water/air intercooling.Quote:

Its a drawthrough set up. But a blowthrough would work well. If you built a water to air intercooler, you could make some real power gains.

Today I spent about two hours wiring up some relays for the fuel pump and s/c pulley.
When the batt was hooked up I found I had cocked it up. So I temporaryily hard wired it to the battery.
We got that bad boy fired up, and found the timing needed retarding big time. we knocked it back a bit, and went for a spin. she was still rattling a bit, but WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! When I planted the boot you could fell the weight transfering onto the back wheels.
It was like she was sitting up and paying full attention. With a 4.1:1 diff it became instantly apparent that 12 inch wheels are too small.
We took her down to the servo to buy some 96 octane to see if that would reduce the rattling. On the way home I launched from a stop sign, missed a shift, and over reved it BIGTIME. Now it's making a horrenduly loud rattle/clattering sound.
My old man said "The only time I ever heard a noise like that is when I broke the crankshaft in a 327" "SHEEIT" was my reaction. But it still drives, so Im thinking that I have rattled loose the flywheel bolts.
A mate of mine reckons that the beloved A engines are prone for it. The donk still sounds like it has all it's compressions when it's cranking, so fingers crossed.
and if it has lunched itself, too bad I'll just build another motor for it.

Check your flywheel bolts My bet is you have stretched or broken a few :) Been there done that. Make sure you replace them with new ones and loctite them aswell

Mate I',ve been thinking about what you where trying to do with the relay's, if you bring the beast down this weekend I'll put the tester on it and we can get it right, but thats only if you haven't lunched it already!!!!

My local Datsun racer has busted a couple of flywheels loose from the crank, by breaking ALL the bolts.
The fix was the harmonic balancer. This one was custom made & cost a lot less than a couple of flywheels,[which had to be lightened & balanced] 16 new bolts & one crank [which had to be ground & balanced]

I can't really run a harmonic balancer because my cranshaft pully/ s/c pulley are custom made alloy ones.

Whew! I pulled the gearbox off tonight after work. And to my delight the flywheel was loose (so it wasn't a lunched motor after all). So I'm going to tap out the holes tommorow to remove the old locktite, and get some green locktite. I'm contemplating replacing the flywheel bolts with 12.9 (tensile strength) capscrews.

There are some pics on here somewhere, Who your datty 1200 took some for me ages ago when I was trail fitting all the bits. The manifold feed to #1+2 is not as abrupt as the pics would have you belive.
