hi folks,

i am interested in putting a 1200 heater into a 1000 sedan. is this possible and has anyone else done it before ? my mates 1000 has a broken heater and it constantly blows out hot air (cant even turn it off) so we've considered using a 1200 one.

plz reply if you can help with this one.

as long as it fits theres no reason why not, theres not much too them, hose in, hose out and a wire to run the fan are the only necessary connections, i noticed the other day there is some diffrences between sedan and coupe 1200 heaters, mainly the air outlets on either side are diffrent, something you may want to consider in your search

as to making it look nice and neat i guess its upto how much effort you put in

Of course there is always the other option. You could take the original one out [you gotta do this anyway to fit a replacement] then take it apart & repair it properly, then reassemble it, & reinstall.
That way you get a virtually new heater without the drama of finding a replacement & going to the hassle of trying to get it to fit.

Datsun 1000 heaters have a water control valve built into the core that sometimes siezes when not used for a long time. Take it apart, lube the tapered valve, & replace the "O" ring. Spend a few bucks at the radiator specialist & you can be as warm as toast whenever you want.
Thats gotta be the easy way to do it.
