Most aftermarket tachometers connect to the coil minus side. Did yours not come with wiring instructions?

its all connected to the coil u reckon i would need a biiger alternator??

The Tacho would be drawing only minimum power, so getting a new alternator wouldn't be the solution. It sounds as though you've got the wiring wrong in some way. Check out the mounting instructions the Tacho's on Autometer to see if you've got it right. Then match that with Tacho Diagram to see if anything is wrong. Let us know how you go!

Rick,
got one in my racecar and just followed the instructions in the box - no problem
Must be an installation problem I suspect. Follow disco stu's advice I reckon and it should be sweet.
Good luck.
Cheers

That's funny! It's false, but like what are they thinking? That the A12 only has enough horsepower to turn a 4-inch tach, but not a 5-inch tach?

yeah dd, didnt you know that for every inch in diameter size over 4" in tach size, you need an additional 40hp to make it turn!!
Its a bit like how a ford 9" will suck about 60hp to turn, a 5" tach needs another 40hp!!!
