#1 Installing 180b struts
C_A_R_I_D_I Posted on: 2004/9/25 9:49
hey everyone
i am very interested in installing 180b struts in my 1200 sedan.
i was just wondering if there is any things i will need besides Stanza steering arms and a master cylinder upgrade.

ive searched but had mixed results some saying its straight in some saying differently.

if anyone has done this i was wondering if they would just be able to give a little info that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Frank

also wondering how much i will have to lower it to get back to standard ride hight.

The springs are larger diameter in the 180B. They will NOT fit in the 1200 strut tower.

You will have to remove the spring perches, and weld on stanza or 1200 ones. Stanza ones are better because the Stanza strut tube diameter is the same as 180B.

You will also need to swap the top of the struts too, including the mount, 1200 springs and thrust bearing.

Chris

ps. Not a conversion for someone without a mig welder and a workshop.

use all the same stuff as for stanza struts...plenty of info around on the site
and just need to use smaller spring perches or coilovers

fitting them into a 120y, you can either go a whole 180b front end. crossmember LCAs castor rods and such
or if its a late model 120y all you should need to do is change to stanza or sunny steering arms and the 180b struts should go striaght in

if its an easly model, use all the stuff that you would need to fit stanza struts...except for the stanza strut

Ive got all sunny bits to aid this conversion and im also wrecking a 180b to aid with struts but as it says the struts wont go straight in 1200 but will into the 120y

Cheers guys
its a '76 120y, thats late yeh??

and I think I've got some stuff like steering arms etc that I have to look through to see if anything will fit

I have nfi when it comes to suspension
set up
so its good to know it can be done,
it just doesn't seem like 180B struts get talked about as a conversion option often, this was the only 180b specific thread i could find, compared to the heaps written about stanza/240k, at least on this site anyway
cheers

they all go in a 1200 the same way, stanza struts get talked about the most as thats what was common, so everyone just calls it a stanza strut conversion

theres a couple of threads where ive listed what struts will go in, how to do it, and what brakes will fit...but no idea what it was called

I'm in need of some info,
A I have what was told were 1600 struts with sumo calipers
B I have 200b with rx7 series 4 brakes
C I have 200b with girlock calipers
D I have 240z struts with sumo brakes

Now all of the above all measure the same, my question is are they the same??
