rego rules for NSW on exhaust?
normo

I need run the exhaust pipe in front of the back wheel on my datto ute. Anyone know what the rules are on this in NSW(Australia)
its easier if it can come out the passenger side. This will allow the sway bar and panhard rod to operate easily.

Shouldn't be a problem, it should be behind the rear-most opening door. That's what my old man would say. He's been into hotting up cars for almost 40 years.
Chris http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/v ... 0C59A6444204A171BCD2A5F8F Victoria Rules: The exhaust outlet must extend at least 40 mm beyond the furthermost outboard or rearmost joint of the floor pan which is not continuously welded or permanently sealed which could permit direct access of exhaust gases to the passenger compartment, but must not protrude beyond the perimeter of the vehicle when viewed in plan. http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/dr ... Vehicle-Modifications.pdf Queensland is the same as the Victoria Rules. Nothing on NSW that I can find, but I expect it's derived from the ADRs, and so is similar to QLD and VIC.

I don't think it would be a problem, but I though it had to exit rewards of the rearmost opening window. If it was just the door we could run the exhaust out the side before the rear axle on the coupes!

could have been a window thing.
Makes logical sense.

.....which needs to be at the back of the car. Side pipes are illegal in NSW. The rear opening window on a coupe, sedan etc finishes past the rear axle assy. 6 inches past that is way past the rear axle. This would be an exception in a ute, but I had a sidepipe given to me from a guy who had his ute defected in NSW because of it.

On second thoughts, if you rang John Taylor from Pedders Penrith in NSW 02 47312444 he is able to sell you a pair of leaf springs with 30 years of IP in them that eliminates the need for a sway bar and panhard rod and they also eliminate axle tramp and allow the rear wheels to really hook up upon hard acceleration. Tell him Craig sent you. They will cost about $390...
