Decided to fix the bad bog job on the roof of my car today , I expected it to be bad cause it was cracking around where it had been done ( before i got the car mind you ) but I didn't expect it to be this bad !! And I found cardboard in there ( some people have no idea I swear ) Oh and get this while putting some tools away my 2yr old son decided he would play panel beater to my rear quarter panel .
This may not sound bad but he's strong for a 2yr old ( plays footy with his 9yr old brother ). Hence now it looks like it has hail damage , and I'm absolutely spewing.

Cardboard... Damn, thats pretty shoddy.
While on the topic of rust, how do people generally fix their rust patches? Im looking at cleaning up my 1200 coupe, but am not really sure how to go about it, my dad just keeps telling me to bog everything up...? What do you folks recommend..

Bog should only be used to blend slight imperfections...... Mind you i have seen a lot of shoddy 3 tubs of bog repairs. I cut the rust out and the weld up the holes or put in patches, it is slow and at times painfull but it is a lot better job just make sure you cut out all the rust.

Cut a bigger hole than the rust you can see (near 25mm [1in] more).Size the patch to the same shape no gaps all the way around edge to edge, tack it in about 25mm apart with a MIG.Weld the downs first (50mm at a time) as fast as you can, then cool the weld with a wet rag as fast as you can.If you can feel any heat after coolin down do not do the next 50mm of weld till it is cooled. Then after the downs are done weld the across bits same as above.Floor pices same as above but weld along the center line first (frount to back or you south paws, other way round) keep it cool as soon as you can after welding. Then weld towards the doors.50mm (2in) at a time.If you blow a hole leave it till later keep moving the weld as fast as you can.Take a look at some pic in my album. believe it or not, if you have a large section of rust that needs replacing (ie your sills are rusty, the panel behind the rear wheels is really rooted etc etc) cut them out along some good metal, and send the whole piece off to a re-roller.
they'll roll the section of panel out of new 0.6mm galv sheet and you just put it back up to the line you cut and re-weld it in (stitch welding keeps the heat down). i'm having this done on the 240C, and seriously, $400 cut, re-rolled, installed and primed versus $600 to cut out and patch all the little holes makes a lot more sense to me.
