Strut asembly?

I have been lurking around in the back ground of the site for about 3 weeks now and I found something that was interesting and I was wondering fi you all could explain it. Does this allow you to lower the front end of your car a extra 4 inchs or just a couple more inchs so you dont bottom out as bad when on bumpy roads, ( http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=257 ) I didn't want to post anything until I bought my 1200 which hopefully will be in 2 or 3 days.
Thanks LeDevil

This will work if you have a mig welder and hacksaw, and have access to those Jetta inserts.
The coil spring will also need to be rewound and tempered to suit the shortened travel. This is not a trivial exercise that you would do in your backyard. I certainly wouldn't start cutting into my strut tubes, until I had a complete idea of what I was trying to achieve. A 4 inch drop on the front, especially with wider wheels, will result in the tyres rubbing dangerously on the guards. This might be ok on the track where the pits aren't far away, but a flat tyre on the street can be a bad experience, especially when you need to be somewhere on time.

Ok, here's what I have planned I have a set of coil overs like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBa ... 3582&item=7931450158&rd=1 and I was planning on cutting the strut assembly down and cutting off the bottom spring perch and welding the threaded part of the coil over to the strut assembly so it would be a solid coil over set up would this work. I have access to a welder (grandpa) and tools I would need the only thing I am stuck on is how do I re thread the top of the strut assembly to hold the stut in. All help is appreciated thanks

At that price..I guess it's worth the risk.
But, you'd need to know the strut tube diameter for the Integra compared to what you have. All strut tubes aren't the same. If you could make a sleeve, you might be able to join them. But without the sizes there is a good chance that it won't work.

The Datsun Competition Suspension manual discusses how to do this.
