Hi, i have got some engine problems with my 3cylinder Charade,I know its not a datsun but any help would be great. my car runs fine up to 3500 rpm then after that it just starts breaking down and the more u push the throttle the worse it gets, the only time it wants to drive good is when its under load and not reving. at first i thouht it was probberly just points, plugs and timing?

But today I got new plugs and points and i moved the dizy over 1 tooth and i can now rev the motor to 5000 rpm but thats just starting to pick up then it breaks down and back fires and runs crap. does any one have any clues on what it could be?

did you check the points gap?
make sure you set the timing right to its specs.
To me it seems like your timing is too advance
or
Check and adjust your carby

is it smoking?

I dont quite understand what you mean by
"the only time it wants to drive good is when its under load and not reving"
