#1 EFI gurus?

Since we're talking about MPFI manifolds, and EFI in general...
Let's discuss options...
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have my own ideas, as how to handle the electronics for the MPFI, but there may be better ways.

Cheapest MPFI to adapt to A series engines?

Easiest MPFI to adapt to A series engines?

Most tunable MPFI to adapt to A series engines?

Most reliable MPFI to adapt to A series engines?

Issues? MPFI manifolds for a series engines are somewhat rare.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Cheapest TBI to adapt to A series engines?

Easiest TBI to adapt to A series engines?

Most tunable TBI to adapt to A series engines?

Most reliable TBI to adapt to A series engines?

Issues? TBI isn't as good as MPFI ( but still better than a carburettor )

The most tunable ECU setup can be debatable, but companies like Haltech, Motec, AEM, SDS all offer laptop tunable setups that can control fuel only (cheaper) or fuel and spark (gets the most out of your engine). One of their setups would be the best way to install EFI on an A series because it can be tuned rather than just adapting some other car's factory ECU to suit the Datsun, I don't you'd be able to tune it much if at all if you did that.

Here is a link to one of the TB swaps that's availabe for the A series EFI.

And here is another picture of it, adapted from a CA20 engine if I remember correctly and much bigger than the stock TB.

whats mfpi? and tbi?

check out a company called "mega squirt" on the net. cheap, simple and effective aftermarket setup, fuel only ECU. also very tunable in real time via a freeware program with a laptop. hard to beat that value! i have a few mates who are using them on L series datsun motors with great results.

MPFI = multi point fuel injection.
TBI = throttle body injection.

yeah, megasquirt. that would win for price and score very well on tunability.

Still need a manifold. ;)

Has anyone here used the megasquirt computer and software? how did it go?

A coupe of the local rally guys use them and they recon they are OK. Most common reason for Msquirt is the cost and simplicity.
A guy I spoke with this morning said he would go will Haltech or Motec etc if he could justify the cost. He's happy with Msquirt for that reason.
