#1 Registering a 1200 with a L16
Adam_RSX Posted on: 2005/5/5 17:56
First post.... I have a DR30 RSX but am currently looking at getting a 1200 thats had a L16 fitted.

My main problem is that its from interstate and not currently registered with the L... Does anyone know roughly what would be required to get through an inspection? I'm in South Australia if it helps.

Otherwise I'm thinking I may have to buy a slab, invite a friend over and stick an A12 and standard struts in it.

Cheers

Adam

Ring the relevant regisration authority in SA and they should have a technical dept. of some sort that can put you in touch with an approved engineer. He will advise on what needs to be done.
If it allready has bigger brakes that may be all that is required.

hey Adam,

it shouldn't be a problem. It was engineered/mod plated and legally registered in my car - we just put my x-members into his car.

In QLD all it would take is another engineer inspection (approved engineer list available from QLD Transport) to approve the engine and box conversion, which would cost about $100. Probably works in a similar way down there.

All the other stuff on his car - brakes, diff, suspension, etc - are already approved with his current mod plate.

I guess now that my 'L18' is actually in someone else's car I'll need a new username...

btw, welcome to the 1200 club Adam - I'm kinda hoping my old engine goes to someone I know. If I knew Craig was going to get rid of the car when we were doing the deal to swap engines, I wouldn't have let the SSS head go in the deal. I might have a couple of other useful little goodies lying around I can send to you too if you buy it.

It will defintely make a pretty handy little club racer if thats what your thinking of doing.

If all goes to plan and I can sell my Triumph (buyer lined up for the Charade) I'm hoping to be on the grid for the next Mallala 6 Hour Relay :)

Oh, I've left you a pm on SAU

Cheers

All you need is a bigger disc brake front end.

And to have the rest of your car road worthy.

stanza struts, 180B master cylinder should be all you need to pass.

justtell them that the WHOLE braking system is from a stanza (inlcuding the rear slaves-even though they're not) ), you didnt have to cut anything and you should be fine....

...if you're nice...
