#1 Carb troubles
McBWagon Posted on: 2005/5/13 3:32
hey everyone, I justr recently rebuilt the carburetor on my 79 a14, seeing as how it was running poorly and it failed emissions. The problem for the emissions was fixed, it was just the float level, but now the carb has a great deal of new problems. firstly I did the job with no vacuum diagrams and now im unsure if the vacuums are hooked up correctly. the car now idles shakey, but stable, however when the throttled is depressed past half way causes the car to bog, or die. if you press the accelerator pedal constantly, it will stay alive. It has absolutley no power when driving, the only way to keep it from bogging down completley is to ride the clutch the whole way.

Are you sure you put the jets back where they were?

I didnt touch any of the jets, I only sprayed through the passages.

You might check for vacuum leaks, at the carb base would be an obvious spot if you just replaced it. Spray some WD-40 at the base and see if the car speeds up, if so you have a leak there. This is a great way to find leaks, you can spray at anywhere you suspect a leak, just be careful, it is flamable.

so you rehooked up all the vacuum lines without a diagram? You'll need a diagram if you ever hope to have it run well enough to pass emissions.
I have a diagram for an 81 b310 with california or federal emissions. ( where are you located?)
