#1 LSD solution?
D Posted on: 2005/6/22 11:17
Would it be possible to make a machined billet centre casing for a common lsd centre as that found in 200sx and other independant rear ends but to suit a live axle setup with bolt on axle tubes? similar to this one on the link? Then with custom axles (the second most expenive bit) and using pintara brakes wed have a strong lightweight diff with many common lsd centres to play with. Common any ideas from anyone for something similar?

There is an early Alfa axle like this. You can get them with LSD for about $1200 but the axles have to be modded a lot and this is expensive.

Billet centre housings are used for sports sedans/ circel track cars, using ford 9" centres with independent axle set ups.

They cost !~!!!!

What are you trying to do here...... Go to a 25 spline axle to save weight?
The 28 spline axle out of a R31 skyline is what I'm using. It's pretty light (comparatively speaking), strong (will handle 220 hp no worries), cheap ($180 from the local wreckers) & all you have to do is get 1 axle shortened & insert a LSD centre from an EA / EB Falcon. Plus you get to use the skyline disc brake rear end.

Yeah the r31 skyline setup is cheap and seems to be very popular. I was looking at something like these setups which are supposed to be 24kg complete with the 7 inch mini billet centres that can handle about 250hp. In the end Im looking at possibilities of going just under 540kgs.

I got this one feral but just looking for other options but looks like a winters litre sprint car diff is the best choice so far. behind the alfa diff is a stock 84 1200 ute diff

Why do you only shorten one axle? Won't that put things off centre?

I'm very interested in using an R31 diff in my car
