#1 To spool or not to spool
low1000 Posted on: 2005/6/28 4:43
hey guys, im in the process of getting an r31 diff cut down to put under my sedan. At the moment it has an open center in it. i will be running it behind a CA18det and want to know what other guys have done. i've heard that the skyline LSDs wear out really quickly. Also ive heard that EA-EB falcooon LSDs bolt straight in? My other option is to spool it or weld it? but i dont want it to be a pig in the carpark.
Any words of advise are apreciated,
Thanks....Elliott

From personal experience I can vouch that welded centres are a total pain in the arse in a street driven car.

spooling is the same as welding

and from my welded one i can tell you its a pain in the arse for a street car

R31 skyline - 28 spline
R31 Pintara - 25 spline

Falcons 25spline until the EB series 2 which are 28 spline onwards.

PS, chasing a 28 spline LSD or detroit locker.

Its only 25 spline so i guess not.

Ive got i R31 LSD wwhickh is getting cut down ive been its startin to open been quoted $450 to have it rebuilt.

mini spool is a rich man's locker it actauly gives when u turn unlike a welded and is noway near as harsh on your axels

do u have 28spline or 25spline
if u have 28spline go mini spool u wont regret it

yeah those 28spline mini spools fit right in there, all for 100$ worth it
