#1 recommendations for racing seats anyone
galahazard Posted on: 2005/7/6 8:27
hey guys,

im thinkin of putting in racing seats in my 1200 coupe.

I dont wanna spend too much and i dont want them to be rock hard.

Is there such front seats?

I'd like the ones with the racing 5 point harness seatbelts cause i couldn't be bothered trying to run retractable seatbelts in it.

There's no place to put the seatbelt latch which is on the door frame right above your shoulder in the 1200 coupe's.

Unless someone can help me there, racing seats are maybe the way to go.

Cheers

I know there's a post for retractable seatbelts in this forum but that deals with the sedan, not coupe.

see ya's

I have OBX Daytona seats which are inexpensive and bolt up to the standard rails. It'd be worth doing a search as this question has been covered several times over the past 12 months.

Yep I have a Cobra Monaco rigid back (to meet FIA) and fits in just...
The thing to watch is the upper shoulder supports on racing seats are usually too wide for the 1200. So the low end scale is the way to go. It is comfortable but a bit hard for long trips. I bought it new at revoulution Racegear for under $500. About the cheapest FIA endorsed seat available and made in UK...
The Sparco sprint is also of the same type and is about the same price.
If youre serious about performance and want a really comfortable seat that is light and safe I reckon the Cobra Evolution is the way to go. they are about $1200...OUCH
But seriously youve gotta go and try them in the store and see what best suits your fit and wallet.

The sparco sprint are not a bad race set for the money I paid around $400 8 years ago for mine its pretty faded and a few small rips.(not too bad for its age) Around $500 now I think. A little hard on the butt on long trips but very supportive on the race track.
There are better seats out there but lots more $$$ and as converted said can be a bit wide in the sholder department.
Sparco seats

Hi bought some old style Cobra Buckets from revolution racegear. Not cheap but very comfortable & no wings to worry about.

it's best to actually sit in the seats to find which one you like. Some have fairly narrow shoulders and you'd really want to know what you're getting.

My vote goes for Sparco "Sprint" as well, I have have mine for about five years now. As others have stated, they are also FIA approved.

Hey vex I am loving your old skool Cobra buckets these would be the perfect period accessory for a B10 race car, all those modern seats look totally out of place in a 1960's car.

something i've found in a search for a seat is the height of the holes for the harnesses in the
seatback should be ABOVE your shoulder height.
if it's not, this can cause a problem in a rear collision.this can break the spinal column, leading to paraplegia or worse.so,if you sit in the seat,& you can't feel the harness holes, look for another seat.
