Not exactly sure on the oil. I always end up putting about 3.8l in. Just put 3.5l in and go slow after that checking the dipstick all the time. Oil filter. Just use any Z145a you can get. Doesnt seem to make much diff especially since you have to change the oil so often(3000miles) in a old car anyway.

Just some more usless jargon...

Coolant : with heater M/T (A14) 4.8 Litres
without heater M/T (A14) 4.2 litres

Engine: with oil filter change 3.2 Litres ( 2-7/8 qt)
without oil filter change 2.7 Litres ( 2-3/8 qt)

Transmission: M/T 4 speed (A14) 1.3 litres
M/T 5 speed (A14) 1.2 litres
A/T (A14) 5.3 litres

I use a Valvoline oil filter, cost about 12 bux and works a treat oil flow and quality is still going fine after about 1000k's after i wacked it on

hey, bit OT - I have a litre & 1/2 of Castrol Syntrans (not the more common Syntrax) left over from my VR4 (unused, brand new)- is it ok for the A series gearboxes?

yes,it's great stuff.i've used it in all the race transmissions since 1994,without any problems.
just make sure the front & rear seals are in good condition,as it's a bit thinner than the usual gearbox oil.
