#1 Borg Warner - H145 Swap Q's
WhiteSedan Posted on: 2005/9/12 16:45
Hi guys, the old diff in my partners auto 1200 sedan is giving up the ghost... ive been lucky enough to come across a fully rebuilt H145 for a sedan, (has shock mounts on leaf mount). At the moment the car has a jatco auto (not BW) but it has a borg warner diff. I was wondering when i swap diffs, will i need to put the flange off the BW diff onto the H145?? How else can i do this? Are the input splines different on a standard 4speed compared to a Jatco auto, if so i could just use a coupe tailshaft?? I just want to have it all ready when the time comes to put it in. Cheers Sean

the BW flange will not fit the H145 diff. You will need the 1200 tailshaft to suit.

AFAIK the output shafts on autos and manuals are the same, so there should not be any problems with tailshafts.

the Auto and Manual Yokes ARE Different - different Diameter, different splines - my 120Y was an auto now is a 4 speed (F4W60L)...

the only exeption to said rule is the 63 series gearboxes whick are a L series gearbox modified to fit a A series...

mawler, would that be because you had a borg warner auto box?? i have a jap auto, so maybe, just maybe it'll be the same as the manual yoke.

nope the auto in my 120Y was a Jatco 3N71B... tough as nails but slipped badly...

so it got evicted...

by a F4W60L... never looked back

if you look at that pic it shows why a manual tailshaft wont fit an auto - or vice versa...

Cheers for the help guys! looks like i need a 120y tailshaft that goes from a jatco auto to a banjo/jap diff... shouldnt be too hard to find, they are the same length as a 1200 tailshaft arent they?
