my car very slow...

hi all.
i drive a B310 with A15 (just change the engine, where exhaust is still same) the thing is the engine is very hard to climb up the RPM after 3000rpm. (even is in first gear) and the top i tried is about 140kph only (maybe in real life is about 130++kph) is the engine behave like this way? (slow rpm climb after 3k rpm) or is it other restriction like the exhaust, wrong fuel mixture/ jetting on the carb?) actually last time when i using A12 also the rpm climbs slow after 3k rpm.. but i think is aging problem. but this A15 is in year 90's (according to previous record of that C20 van) my car is all original, with stock hitachi carb, the air filter is apexi dual funnel ( when the engine comes there is no air filter, so i bought one), and electronic distributor. so any other A15 driver there? can share with me what limit the hp..? all feedback appreciated.. thanks

It sounds like you should check ignition timing. If you just changed the engine, you probably either removed and reinstalled the distributor or at least changed the advance or retard setting. Get a timing light on the car and see where you are at.
good luck bryon

Get him to check the "Mechanical Advance" as well. Make sure the "weights" in the distributor are not siezed.

Make sure your brakes aren't staying on.

i also drive a b310 with a vanette a15(changed from the a12)but with automatic.i used the same a12 exhaust system so sometimes i don't get sufficient power from it as the a15 exhaust is bigger.one time i ran on the highway and reached approx. 150km/h(would have reached 160 if i hadn't come of the highway).if it's not the exhaust it probably the timing.u may need to check that out.

While you are giving it a tune up, you may as well fit a new fuel filter. They are usually cheap and can cause that kind of problem if partly blocked.

oic..
so conslusion few possibility is 1. The timining is not correct, 2. the exhaust is not right size 3. the fuel filter. so i guess for next service i will get the mech to check up the timing and change the fuel filter, and when got time i will go to change the whole exhaust system You can view topic.
