Thinking of a cheaper way to get lower compresion in an a12 rather than buying forged pistons. if i use a decompresion plate will it affect the valves??? an how strong are the standard pistons? i have heard they are a bit weak. thanks guys

I don't think the pistons are weak, but I've never played with A12's. A decompression plate will reduce the squish clearance and may infact promote pre-ignition rather than retard it. What's the puropose ?? Turbo ???

Stay away from them. Decompress it properly. using a decomp plate could stuff up all the rocker geometery.
If your running big boost put forgies in it anyway. You mayaswell build it reliable coops

don't forge pistons cost abit (1000+)??? yer thought the would muck up the valve train. can you buy shorter rods?? are they cheaper

Muck up the rocker geometry? The shims come in .7mm and 1.5mm. All you do is adjust the tappet to compensate.
